Terms

The rules of the game, plain and short. No lawyers were harmed in the writing.

Last updated · May 2, 2026

This document covers the use of villagedesheros.com and how reservations work at Village des Héros, an independent comic shop in Châteauguay, Quebec. By browsing the site or reserving a book, you accept these terms. The text aims for clarity, not legal exhaustiveness — for a sharp question, give us a call.

1. Identity

Village des Héros operates from 131 Boulevard Saint-Joseph, Châteauguay, Quebec, J6K 3J9. Phone: (450) 699-4376. Website: villagedesheros.com. For full legal entity details (NEQ, registered business name), ask us by phone or in store.

2. Reservation

Reservations are handled by phone. You build your list on the site, then call us with your list at hand. We confirm availability live, pull the books, and agree on a pickup time. No online payment is processed for now.

A confirmed reservation is held for seven (7) days by default. Beyond that, without word from you, the book goes back to the floor. If you need more time, mention it when we confirm and we'll work it out.

3. Pricing and taxes

Prices shown online are in Canadian dollars (CAD), based on recent market sales (eBay sold listings, GoCollect, auction houses). They may change between syncs. The price that applies is the one confirmed verbally at the time of reservation.

Applicable taxes (GST and QST) are added to the sale price, in line with Quebec regulations. Payment is made in store at pickup: debit, credit (Visa, Mastercard), cash, or Interac e-transfer.

4. Availability

The inventory shown online is synced daily with our management system. It reflects the floor with a delay of up to about 24 hours. A copy may therefore sell between the last update and your call — which is why final availability is always confirmed verbally.

5. Book condition

Unless stated otherwise, books are sold raw, with an approximate grade (e.g. VF, NM). That grade reflects our best estimate; it is not a professional CGC or CBCS grade.

Graded books (CGC, CBCS, etc.) are sold in their original sealed slab; the grader's note is the reference.

All sales are final, except for a clear description error on our part (wrong issue, wrong series, undisclosed major defect). In that case, let us know within seven (7) days of pickup and we'll make it right.

6. "My list" — local data

The "My list" feature stores your choices in your browser's local storage (localStorage). The list is never sent to us automatically and is not tied to any account. Clearing your browser or switching devices erases the list.

7. Personal data

The site does not use tracking cookies or behavioural analytics tools. No personal information is collected by the site itself.

When you call us, we keep only what's strictly needed for the reservation (first name, phone number, requested books), in line with the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Quebec). This information is deleted once the transaction is closed or the reservation expires.

8. Intellectual property

Cover images and descriptions associated with comics belong to their respective publishers and rights holders (DC Comics, Marvel, Image Comics, etc.). They are reproduced here for commercial identification in the context of the sale of authentic copies. The Village des Héros logo and site graphics belong to Village des Héros.

9. Limitation of liability

The site is provided "as is." We do our best to keep information accurate and up-to-date, but we cannot guarantee the absence of errors, service interruptions, or incompatibility with your device. Where liability applies, it is limited to the amount paid for the affected copy.

10. Changes

These terms may evolve to reflect how the shop operates (for example, when automated online payment becomes available). The last-updated date is shown at the top of this page; changes take effect upon publication.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws in force in the province of Quebec and applicable federal laws of Canada. Any dispute falls under the competent courts of the relevant judicial district, subject to the mandatory provisions of the Quebec Consumer Protection Act that remain available to you as a consumer.

12. Contact

For any question about these terms or a reservation: (450) 699-4376, or in person at 131 Boulevard Saint-Joseph, Châteauguay, Quebec. See the Contact page for opening hours.
