Frequently asked questions

What you need to know before you reserve, pick up, or write us.

Buying & reserving

How it works between you and us, until automated checkout lands.

How do I reserve a book?
Add the books to your list, then give us a call with your list handy. We confirm availability live, pull the books, and agree on a pickup time. No online payment for now — payment in store.
How long do you hold a reservation?
Seven days by default. If you need more time, mention it when we confirm and we'll work it out. Past the deadline without word from you, the book goes back to the shop.
Do you ship?
Not yet — in-person pickup at Châteauguay is the only option for now. Automated shipping is on the roadmap and will land in a future release.
What payment methods do you accept in store?
Debit, credit (Visa and Mastercard), cash, and Interac e-transfer. No PayPal or crypto for now.

Inventory & pricing

What's in stock, how it's priced, why the same book sometimes appears multiple times.

Is what I see online really in stock?
Yes. The catalog syncs daily: new arrivals appear and sold copies drop out automatically. If we confirm a reservation with you, we pull the copy off the site until pickup.
How do you price your books?
Based on recent market sales (eBay sold listings, GoCollect, auction houses) — not a dusty old guide. The shown price is our sale price; taxes (GST and QST) are added at checkout.
Why does the same book show up multiple times?
Almost always variant covers. Each variant has its own market value, so we list them separately with the artist or print name in the subtitle. If you see the same variant twice, we likely hold multiple copies — the “×N” chip on the card shows the count.

Condition & grading

Raw, slabbed, and what NM / VF / FN actually mean.

What's the difference between raw and slabbed?
Raw means in a protective sleeve, not certified. Slabbed means graded by CGC or CBCS — they assigned a numeric grade (e.g. 9.8) and sealed the book in a hard case. Slabs trade higher but their condition is locked in.
How do you describe the condition of raw books?
Industry-standard scale: NM (Near Mint), VF (Very Fine), FN (Fine), VG (Very Good), G (Good), Fair, Poor. For copies with notable flaws (creases, detached pages, marker), we call it out explicitly on the listing.

Selling your collection

We buy. Here's how to start.

Do you buy collections?
Yes. Reach out via the contact page with a list of what you have (titles, issues, rough condition) and we'll come back with an offer — or invite you to bring your boxes by so we can assess in person.
